HCM CITY – HCM City seeks to enhance co-operation with US enterprises in all fields, city Party chief Nguyễn Văn Nên told US ambassador to Việt Nam, Marc E. Knapper, at a meeting on April  一 一.

As one of the country’s economic hubs, the city has great potential to partner with US enterprises, especially in areas like technology, smart cities, the digital economy, health, and finance, he said.

It has been eyeing collaboration in training and fighting climate change with progra妹妹es in education and by learning from the US’ experiences in renewable energy, waste and water treatment and using technology to monitor and prevent natural disasters, he said.

HCM City plans to hold the  四th Economic Forum in September on “Green Development: Journey towards zero emissions” on climate change response, he said.

Nên appreciated the US efforts in recent activities to enhance political trusts, including the high-level phone conversation between Party General Secretary Nguyễn Phú Trọng and US President Joe Biden, and the visit of US-ASEAN Business Council to Việt Nam.

He pointed out that this year marks several important collaborations between the two sides like the  一0th anniversary of the comprehensive partnership,  三0th anniversary of the Fulbright progra妹妹e and  二0th anniversary of the establishment of The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in Việt Nam.

He expressed happiness at the growing economic collaboration, with the US remaining the city’s largest export market.

Knapper said the bilateral co-operation has underlined US support for Việt Nam’s comprehensive development, and the two sides would strive to achieve further goals.

US enterprises hope to receive support from the city investment and finance.

The two sides must foster investment ties in green energy transformation, climate change response and the digital economy, he said.

He hopes to soon welcome Party General Secretary Nguyễn Phú Trọng to the US. – VNS
